UDHAMPUR: Like other parts of the country, Dussehra was celebrated with great enthusiasm and religious fervor at the Sports Stadium Udhampur late this evening. Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai, graced the occasion as the chief guest. The event was organized by the Dussehra Utsav Samiti.
Thousands of people thronged the venue to witness the grand celebrations where the effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarna and Meghnad were set ablaze symbolizing the eternal triumph of truth over evil.
Prominent dignitaries present on the occasion included Member Legislative Assembly Udhampur West, Pawan Kumar Gupta, MLA Udhampur East, R.S Pathania, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Prem Singh, President Dussehra Utsav Samiti, Vikram Singh Slathia besides other eminent citizens and a large gathering of enthusiastic people.
To ensure the smooth conduct of the celebrations, the district administration made elaborate arrangements including security deployment, barricading, uninterrupted power supply, drinking water facilities, medical aid and the presence of ambulances ensuring a safe and successful celebration at the Sports Stadium Udhampur.
