Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) State President Vivek Bali has expressed deep concern over the heavy losses suffered by the horticulture sector this year. He said that along with the rest of the country, Jammu and Kashmir has also witnessed severe damage, leaving farmers and orchardists in distress.

Vivek Bali appealed to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of J&K and also requested the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi Ji, to extend immediate relief to the affected farmers. He urged that just as in other parts of the country, the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) loans of farmers in J&K should also be waived off and a special relief package should be announced at the earliest.

“The horticulture sector is the backbone of J&K’s economy, and the recent floods have caused irreparable damage. Farmers are unable to bear the burden of loans under KCC, and unless their loans are waived and financial relief is provided, it will be very difficult for them to sustain their livelihood,” Bali said.

He further emphasized that timely compensation and a dedicated relief package would provide a much-needed lifeline to farmers, enabling them to continue their work and secure their future.
