SRINAGAR: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Information Technology, Transport, Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma today held a meeting with representatives of leading oil companies including HPCL to review the availability and supply of LPG in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in wake of recent road blockades.
During the deliberations, the Minister emphasized the need for ensuring uninterrupted availability of LPG cylinders to consumers across Jammu and Kashmir. The representatives of the oil companies assured the Minister that the supply chain is being maintained on daily basis and every effort is being made to prevent any inconvenience to public.
Highlighting the importance of uninterrupted supply to households, Satish Sharma called upon the oil companies to accord top priority to trucks carrying LPG cylinders while coordinating with the concerned authorities to ensure smooth passage.
Minister also underscored the importance of expanding the network of LPG distribution agencies. He stressed the need to establish more outlets in rural and border areas so that families residing in remote regions are not deprived of timely access to cooking gas.
He directed the officials of FCS&CA to work in close coordination with oil companies for streamlining distribution channels and continuously monitor stock positions to avoid any shortage.
Reiterating the Government’s commitment to public welfare, Satish Sharma said that ensuring essential supplies, including LPG, is our top priority, and every necessary step is being taken to safeguard the interests of consumers across Jammu and Kashmir.
