Tangdar, Sept 19: The nationwide Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan, a flagship health and wellness initiative focusing on women’s health and family well-being, is gaining remarkable momentum in the border district of Karnah with a series of mega health camps. The programme was formally launched at Sub District Hospital (SDH) Tangdar by SDM Karnah, Zaffar Ahmad Lone, in the presence of BMO Tangdar, Dr. Khwaja Arif, along with senior medical professionals.

As part of the launch, a mega health camp was organized at SDH Tangdar where specialist doctors including a psychiatrist, general physician, child specialist, and gynecologist attended to patients. AYUSH doctors screened beneficiaries and distributed free medicines. The camp offered a wide range of free diagnostic services such as ultrasound, ECG, CBC tests, blood sugar checks, and blood pressure monitoring. In the last 17 days alone, 559 ultrasound scans were conducted, with 281 provided free of cost. On the inaugural day nearly 350 patients were screened.

The momentum continued on 18 September at PHC Gabra, a remote area located about 10 km from the Tehsil headquarters, where more than 200 patients were treated. Free medicines were distributed and screenings were conducted under national programmes including the Tuberculosis Elimination Programme. Thirty-six antenatal check-ups were carried out and several ABHA IDs were generated to strengthen digital health services.

On 19 September, another successful camp was held at PHC Chiterkot where more than 170 patients benefited. Forty-two ABHA IDs were generated, 40 patients were screened under the Tuberculosis Elimination Programme, and 119 non-communicable disease screenings were conducted. Importantly, three new cases of hypertension and two new cases of diabetes were detected. Eight antenatal check-ups were performed, including two first visits and six second visits. In addition, 107 patients were screened for anaemia, 35 dropout children were covered under immunisation, 48 children were included under the RBSK scheme, and 37 cases were registered under Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY.

BMO Tangdar, Dr. Khwaja Arif, said, “In just three days, over 800 patients have benefited from these health camps. Our doctors and paramedical staff are working tirelessly to ensure healthcare reaches even the remotest villages. With continued community support, this mission will be a milestone in delivering accessible and quality healthcare at the doorstep of every family.”

In the past five months, around ten such medical camps have been successfully conducted in Block Karnah, benefitting thousands of patients. The Abhiyaan will continue across health and wellness centres until its culmination on 2 October 2025. The overwhelming response highlights strong community support for the vision of the programme: healthy women, empowered families, and equitable healthcare for all.
