Srinagar, Sep 6 (JKNS): The mortal remains of three more Kashmiri workers, who perished in the Kullu landslide in Himachal Pradesh, will be flown to the Valley on Sunday with full dignity and respect, the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) said on Saturday.

JKSA National Convenor Nasir Khuehami told news agency JKNS that out of the seven deceased workers, three bodies had earlier reached Srinagar after Himachal Pradesh authorities intervened to halt road transportation and ensure dignified airlifting. “Now, three more bodies recovered from the debris on Saturday will be sent via Chandigarh Airport on Sunday. On arrival at Srinagar, they will be shifted in ambulances to their native villages for burial,” he said.

He added that the Himachal Pradesh Government bore the cost of airlifting, while the Jammu and Kashmir Government extended support by providing ambulances to ferry the mortal remains to respective hometowns. The three workers who reached Srinagar on Saturday were laid to rest with dignity in their ancestral villages.

Expressing gratitude, JKSA thanked Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena for their humanitarian approach, and acknowledged the J&K Government’s timely facilitation of transportation. “At present, only the body of Gulzar Ahmad remains trapped under the rubble. The rescue operation is underway on a war footing with NDRF and other agencies continuing efforts to recover the last missing worker,” Khuehami said. (JKNS)
