Mortal Remains of Three Kashmiri Workers Repatriated from Kullu Landslide

Srinagar, Sep 6 (JKNS): The mortal remains of three Kashmiri workers, who tragically lost their lives in the Kullu landslide in Himachal Pradesh, were repatriated to Kashmir on Saturday with full dignity and respect.

In a statement issued here to news agency JKNS, Jammu and Kashmir Students Association said, out of seven deceased workers, three bodies were recovered and were initially being transported in load carriers.

The association immediately raised the matter with the Chief Minister’s Office and Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, who intervened without delay. Road transportation was halted, and arrangements were made to airlift the remains.

This morning, the Chief Secretary confirmed that the three recovered mortal remains were facilitated via flight through Chandigarh Airport, it reads.

They have now landed at Srinagar Airport and are on their way to their respective hometowns to be laid to rest with dignity, statment reads.

The entire transportation and associated expenditure were borne by the Himachal Pradesh Government. The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association expressed deep gratitude to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena for their prompt intervention and humanitarian approach.

The rescue operation in Kullu continues on a war footing to locate the remaining four workers who are still trapped under the debris. (JKNS)
