Police carried out swift rescue operation at Aang Anzwalla Ang,25 nomadic families safely evacuated
Srinagar: Police on Wednesday successfully conducted a rescue operation in the Aang Anzwalla area of Anantnag, where approximately 25 nomadic families were stranded due to a sudden rise in the water level of the Lidder Nalla.
Upon receiving reports of the situation, a rescue team led by the District Officer of the General Bus Stand was promptly dispatched to the site. Despite challenging weather conditions, police personnel, along with local administration and volunteers, managed to evacuate all affected individuals safely and relocate them to safer areas. The rescued families received immediate relief, which included food, shelter, and medical assistance. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and are prepared to provide further support as needed.

J&K Police safeguarding lives amid floods in Pulwama
In response to heavy rainfall and rising water levels in Pulwama Police on Wednesday initiated rescue operations to ensure public safety.
Rescue teams have been deployed to evacuate stranded residents, including vulnerable groups such as women, children, and the elderly, from flood-affected areas. The police personnel worked in collaboration with the district administration tirelessly despite adverse weather conditions to protect lives and provide essential assistance. Temporary shelters have been established for families impacted by the flooding. Police in a statement issued on this occasion reiterated its commitment to public safety, appealing people therein to exercise caution, avoid unnecessary movement near water bodies, and adhere to official advisories.

Police rescue nomadic families, 350 sheep from Rambiara Nallah after sudden rise in water levels in Shopian
Police, in collaboration with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and local volunteers conducted on Wednesday a rescue operation in Rambiara Nallah.
The operation was initiated to save several nomadic families and approximately 350 sheep that had become trapped due to a sudden rise in water levels. Upon receiving the distress call, a rescue team led by the Station House Officer (SHO) of Heerpora, under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir, promptly arrived at the scene. Despite facing challenging weather conditions, the team ensured the safe evacuation of both the stranded families and their livestock. The police reported that the combined efforts of the police, SDRF, and local volunteers resulted in the successful relocation of all affected families and their animals to safer areas. The operation was conducted under the close supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shopian Anayat Ali Chowdhary, which contributed to its effective and safe conclusion. In their statement, the police reiterated their commitment to protecting the lives and well-being of citizens, especially during natural disasters.

Police extends helping hand to villagers amid flood crisis in Awantipora
In response to severe flooding in Awantipora Police on Wednesday took immediate action to assist affected residents. As floodwaters encroached upon residential areas, causing panic and disruption, police teams were deployed to provide essential support, including the evacuation of vulnerable individuals and the protection of property.
The rescue operations focused on families living in flood-prone areas along the banks of the River Jhelum, particularly nomadic families near Village Panzgam, who faced significant threats from waterlogging and potential flash floods. Police navigated submerged paths to evacuate families, prioritizing the elderly, women, and children, and transported them to designated safe zones. Senior officers from the Police District Awantipora actively supervised the relief efforts, ensuring that residents received comprehensive support during this challenging period. The J&K Police also urged the public to remain vigilant, avoid waterlogged areas, and adhere to safety guidelines to mitigate risks associated with the flooding.

In response to ongoing adverse weather conditions, Police in Srinagar implemented a comprehensive response mechanism in collaboration with the District Administration that was aimed at ensuring the safety and well-being of citizens.
Police teams have been strategically deployed across the city to tackle weather-related challenges, including assisting stranded individuals in low-lying and waterlogged areas. Efforts include coordinating with civil departments for effective dewatering and sanitation, supporting Traffic Police in managing congested routes, and diverting vehicles from flooded zones. The Police Control Room (PCR) and dedicated helpline numbers are available for prompt responses to emergency calls. Citizens experiencing weather-related emergencies are encouraged to utilize these helplines or contact District Police Officers directly. Additionally, the police advise the public to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rainfall and to report incidents such as waterlogging, fallen trees, or electrical hazards to the nearest Police Station or the PCR. Police has appealed people to Cooperate with field staff and adhere to official advisories for their own safety during these challenging weather conditions.

Police Organises Langar for Stranded Drivers and Commuters In Kulgam
Police in Kulgam on Wednesday demonstrated compassion and community service by organizing a langar (community kitchen) at Qazigund for drivers and commuters stranded due to adverse weather and traffic disruptions on the Srinagar–Jammu National Highway.
The initiative provided immediate relief and underscored the police force’s commitment to public welfare beyond traditional policing roles. The effort was led by SSP Kulgam Sahil Sarangal, along with Addl. SP NHW Qazigund, SDPO Qazigund, and other officials. They ensured the availability of wholesome meals and drinking water, offering much-needed respite to those affected.
