Police Dismiss Social Media Rumours of Rape Attempt in Chassana Reasi

Reasi, Sep 1 (JKNS): Police on Monday clarified that reports circulating on social media about an alleged rape attempt on two women in Chassana, Reasi are baseless, stating the victims were assaulted but no such attempt was made.

Police spokesperson in a statement ossued here to news agency JKNS, It has come to notice that misinformation regarding an alleged attempt to rape of two ladies of Chassana area are circulated on some social sites who had gone to the forest for grazing animals, it reads.

In this regard, it is clarified that as per the report of SHO Police Station Chassana, no such incident of attempt to rape has been reported. The statement of the ladies clearly mentions that they were abused and beaten with sticks and not subjected to any rape attempt, statement reads.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 42/2025 stands registered at Police Station Chassana against the accused persons, and the hunt for arresting the accused is underway, it reads.

The news being circulated regarding an attempt to rape is factually incorrect and misleading. All are advised to rely only on official information and avoid spreading unverified reports, reads the statement. (JKNS)
