DC Kupwara reviews implementation of Vibrant Villages Programme for development in border villages

KUPWARA: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse today convened a meeting of Nodal Officers designated for effective implementation of Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP), a Central Sector scheme aimed at improving the basic infrastructure in villages abutting international land borders.
It was informed that the objective of Vibrant Villages Programme is to ensure development of basic infrastructure including road connectivity, electricity, water, telecom, television, health and education in identified villages located near international borders.
To ensure implementation of the VVP in the district, 16 villages have been identified by the district administration to be covered under the programme which includes Teetwal, Amroohi, Gundi Gujran, Jabdi, Hajitara, Seemari, Keran, Alachi Zeb, Machil, Hard Ring, Poshpora, Kunan, Trehgam, Nawagabra, Dardpora and Rawathpora.
Speaking on the occasion, DC highlighted the importance of the Vibrant Village Programme for district Kupwara and enjoined upon the officers to work in a mission mode to achieve better results on the ground. He directed the departments to work with convergence to ensure development of all the amenities in these identified border villages.
ACD Kupwara, CPO, SDM Karnah, Executive Engineers of R&B, PHE, KPDCL, I&FC; officers from Agriculture, RDD and other concerned were present on the occasion.
