Srinagar, Aug 14 (JKNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that the Partition Horrors Remembrance Day not only honours the resilience of those who lived through the tragedy but also reinforces the collective duty to safeguard harmony in the country.

In a post on X, PM Modi, as per news agency JKNS wrote, “India observes Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, remembering the upheaval and pain endured by countless people during that tragic chapter of our history.”

 

“It is also a day to honour their grit, their ability to face unimaginable loss and still find the strength to start afresh. Many of those affected went on to rebuild their lives and achieve remarkable milestones,” it reads.

 

PM Modi further said that “This day is also a reminder of our enduring responsibility to strengthen the bonds omodif harmony that hold our country together,” reads the Post.

 

The day has been officially marked on August 14 every year since 2021 in memory of those who suffered during partition. (JKNS)
