Skill Development Drive Reaches GDC Tangdar, MoU Signed to Boost IT Training

Karnah Kupwara:Government Degree College (GDC) Tangdar today hosted an Awareness Programme on Education and Skill Development to guide students towards emerging career opportunities and skill-based learning pathways.

The event was organized by Sultan Arfeen College of IT, proposed by the National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL) Centre, under the management of Sultan Arfeen Council for Social Development Trust, in collaboration with the government-authorized NCPUL/NIELIT Centre – Hi Fi Computer Technology Institute, College Road, Kupwara.

The programme saw enthusiastic participation from faculty members and students of GDC Tangdar. Speakers underscored the importance of combining formal education with modern skill training to boost employability and self-reliance, especially in border areas like Karnah.

In his inaugural address, Principal Prof. Mushtaq Ahmad Wani commended the initiative, urging students to benefit fully from such programmes. He stressed that “skill development is the need of the hour in today’s competitive job market.”

Vice Principal Prof. Tariq emphasized integrating IT skills, vocational courses, and academic knowledge to prepare students for rapidly evolving industry demands.

Coordinator Prof. Dr. Bilal outlined the objectives, highlighting NCPUL and NIELIT’s role in promoting Urdu computing, IT literacy, and job-oriented training nationwide. He encouraged students to actively engage in skill-building activities for professional growth.

Mohd Ashraf Shah, Managing Director of Hi Fi Computer Technology Institute Kupwara and founder of Sultan ul Arefeen College of IT, urged students to enroll in skill development centres. He also announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between GDC Tangdar and Sultan ul Arefeen College of IT to strengthen collaboration in IT education and skill-based training.

Interactive sessions were conducted by representatives from Sultan Arfeen College of IT and Hi Fi Computer Technology Institute, offering insights into diploma and certificate courses, IT certifications, and entrepreneurship opportunities.

The event concluded with a lively question-and-answer session, where students sought guidance on career prospects, government schemes, and training opportunities. Attendees appreciated the programme’s practical orientation and career relevance.
