Srinagar, Aug 10 (JKNS): The Narparistan road near Tiny Tots School in Fateh Kadal, Srinagar, has fallen into severe disrepair, drawing strong resentment from locals who say its condition poses daily hardships and safety risks.

Residents described the stretch as a vital link now riddled with deep potholes, uneven surfaces, and debris issues they blame on years of official neglect.

A local resident Abdul Rashid Khan speaking to news agency JKNS said, “For the last three years, not a single layer of macadam has been laid. Driving or even walking here is hazardous.”

Poor drainage has added to the woes, leaving the road waterlogged and nearly impassable during rains. “Runoff and incomplete drainage work have worsened the damage,” another resident said.

The crumbling road is also raising health concerns. In dry weather, thick dust clouds engulf the area, making it difficult for pedestrians and two-wheeler riders to breathe. Public transport and private vehicles often suffer damage, with travel times doubling.

Locals said repeated appeals to the LG’s grievance cell, Srinagar Municipal Corporation’s Roads Division, and their MLA have gone unanswered. They are now demanding immediate repairs to prevent further deterioration.

Locals have urged the LG Sinha-led administration and the Omar Abdullah-led government to ensure immediate redressal of their grievances.

“We have been facing this problem for years, and it is affecting our daily lives,” said a local resident namely Shrafat Mir. “We request both the administration and the government to take swift action so that our suffering ends without further delay.” (JKNS)
