LG added that the new train service will ensure ease of travel for devotees of Mata Vaishno Devi and will help accelerate the growth momentum of the local economy.

Sinha also noted that just a day earlier, the first freight train had reached Anantnag from Punjab a milestone that he said marked significant progress in Kashmir Valley’s transport infrastructure and trade network.

The Vande Bharat service to Katra is the latest in a series of initiatives aimed at strengthening connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir, which has seen major rail projects in recent years, including the extension of train services deeper into the Kashmir Valley. (JKNS)
