During the operation as per news agency JKNS, several tractors engaged in illegal sand mining attempted to flee; some managed to escape, while others detached their trolleys and abandoned them on the spot. Acting swiftly, the enforcement team deflated the tyres of multiple tractors to prevent further escape attempts. One tractor was seized and handed over to Hardpanzu Police Station.

In an alarming incident, some miscreants attacked the hired tractor drivers assisting the enforcement team. Authorities confirmed that legal action has been initiated, and certain individuals involved in the assault may face detention.

The district administration reiterated its firm commitment to curbing illegal mining activities and safeguarding natural resources in Budgam. (JKNS)
