DC Shopian calls for organising drives for enhancing enrollment of Social Security schemes

Also takes stock of the progress of PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli scheme

SHOPIAN: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Shishir Gupta today chaired a meeting to review the progress of enrollment for social security schemes.
DC took appraisal of current status of registrations and emphasised the need for enhancing the registration across all sectors. He called upon banks to organise result oriented Enrollment drives across the district in collaboration with frontline department for Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), and Atal Pension Yojana (APY).
To increase registration under these schemes, DC directed concerned departments to register various workers including construction workers, MGNREGA job card holders, workers employed in agriculture, health, MC, NRLM, transport, and education among others.
Motivating the people, especially those employed in the unorganised sector for availing the benefits of these security schemes was stressed while highlighting their benefits in providing security in times of need.
PMJJBY, a life insurance scheme provides Rs. 2 lakh coverage in case of death with an annual premium of Rs.436.
PMSBY is an accident insurance scheme offering Rs. 2 lakh coverage for accidental death or total permanent disability, and Rs.1 lakh for partial permanent disability, with an annual premium of Rs. 20.
APY is a pension scheme providing a guaranteed monthly pension ranging from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 5,000, depending on contributions and age at entry.
On the occasion, progress of PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Scheme was reviewed and concerned departments instructed for increasing the performance.
ADC, Dr.Zakir Hussain Faaz; ACR, Shakoor Ahmad Dar; SDM,Bilal Ahmad; district/ sectoral officers and branch managers of banks attended the meeting.
