Div Com hails inclusive, future-ready approach of National Education Policy-2020

JAMMU: Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar, addressed an event to commemorate five impactful years of the transformative National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 organised by the Directorate of School Education Jammu, in collaboration with SCERT J&K and Samagra Shiksha at Polytechnic Jammu.
The event witnessed participation from stakeholders from across the School Education Department of Jammu & Kashmir, including teachers, students, heads of institutions, educational administrators, and representatives from JKBOSE, JKSCERT, DIETs, Colleges of Education, and other allied institutions.
The Divisional Commissioner inaugurated the exhibition of innovative Teaching-Learning Materials (TLMs) developed by teachers and SCERT, showcasing the creativity and learner-centric approach promoted under NEP 2020.
In his address, the Divisional Commissioner spoke on the transformative spirit of NEP 2020 and its far-reaching impact on the education system. He highlighted the improvements NEP 2020 has brought over previous education policies, especially in terms of its learner-centric, inclusive, and future-ready approach. He emphasized the relevance of the policy in the context of Jammu & Kashmir and called attention to its focus on holistic development of school children, the integration of vocational education, promotion of mental health and emotional well-being, and inclusion of Children with Special Needs (CwSN).
The Divisional Commissioner urged the teaching fraternity to become agents of change, shaping the future of students by implementing NEP 2020 in its true spirit.
Director School Education Jammu Naseem Javed Choudhary presented an overview of the implementation of NEP 2020 in the Union Territory. He also underscored the department’s efforts in training teachers, revamping assessments, promoting multilingualism, and setting up school complexes for resource sharing and academic enrichment.
A special highlight of the event was the distribution of educational aid kits to Children with Special Needs (CwSN), who were specially invited guests, reflecting the Department’s continued emphasis on equity and inclusion.
Joint Director, SCERT, Sindhu Kapoor, Director Academics JKBOSE, Dr Sudhir Singh, Ajeet Sharma, Chief Education Officer Jammu, representatives from Government College of Education DIET Jammu, Samagra Shiksha, JKUT, along with students, ZEOs, HOIs, teacher educators, and officials from various wings of the School Education Department were present.
