Jammu, July 29 (JKNS): Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat on Tuesday reiterated that the J&K Police remains steadfast in its mission to deliver justice, driven by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s guiding principle, “Don’t touch the innocent, and don’t spare the guilty.”

Addressing a public interaction in Jammu, Prabhat as per news agency JKNS said, “This mantra defines the ethos of our policing. It is our constant endeavor to protect the innocent, stand with the oppressed, and ensure that no wrongdoer escapes the law.”

The DGP underscored that new laws introduced by the government are gradually taking effect across the Union Territory, adopting a victim-centric approach aimed at swift justice. “These laws are designed to ensure that perpetrators are swiftly booked, their assets seized, and victims are supported effectively,” he added.

Prabhat said that policing goes beyond law enforcement, likening it to achieving excellence across disciplines. “I often tell my team that our work requires the same dedication as winning a Nobel Prize or earning a doctorate. We must be prepared to take on every challenge and bring real change,” he said.

He also urged society to remain vigilant, calling out scams like fraudulent job promises as “blatant acts of cheating” that require public awareness to prevent. “The first line of defense against crime is society itself. Citizens must stay alert and responsible,” he stressed.

Reaffirming police commitment, Prabhat said, “Every day is a test for us whether it’s fighting drugs, gangsters, general crime, or terrorism and we are determined to deliver results that reflect the highest standards of policing.” (JKNS)
