Srinagar, July 28 (JKNS): External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Monday said that Operation Sindoor marked a “new normal” in India’s fight against cross-border terrorism, laying out a five-point framework for future action while categorically denying former US President Donald Trump’s claims of mediating the end of the India-Pakistan conflict.

Speaking in the Lok Sabha during a special discussion, Jaishankar, as per news agency JKNS, said the new approach includes, “First, terrorists will not be treated as proxies; second, any cross-border terror act will invite an appropriate response; third, terror and talks cannot go together discussions will only be on terrorism; fourth, India will not yield to nuclear blackmail; and fifth, terror and good neighbourly relations cannot coexist blood and water cannot flow together.”

He clarified that Washington had no role in ending hostilities after the Pahalgam attack. “There was no phone call between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Trump during those crucial weeks. The only calls were on April 22, the day of the Pahalgam attack, and June 17, when the Prime Minister was in Canada. There was no conversation in between,” he said, adding that trade talks were also never linked to the military operations. (JKNS)
