Indian Army Medical Officer’s Timely Medical Aid Saves Passenger Aboard Flight 6E-6011

Onboard IndiGo Flight 6E-6011 from Chennai to Guwahati on 14 July 2025, a 75-year-old Indian passenger, experienced a medical emergency around 1820 hrs, losing consciousness and displaying signs of hypoglycaemia including profuse sweating, feeble pulse and cold extremities.

The cabin crew immediately administered oxygen and made an onboard announcement for medical assistance. Major Mukundan, an Army doctor, who was returning from leave, promptly responded. Upon examination, he found the patient semi-conscious, with reactive pupils and signs of hypoglycaemia.

With limited resources available mid-air, Maj Mukundan administered sugar orally and ORS, continuing to monitor the patient’s vitals and oxygen saturation.

Upon landing in Guwahati, the patient was transferred to the airport emergency room, where Maj Mukundan continued treatment. The patient regained consciousness and stabilised by 2000 hrs.

The swift and selfless action by Maj Mukundan, combined with the prompt support of the flight crew, ensured the passenger’s life was saved.
