SHOPIAN, JULY 19: In a determined effort to uphold road safety and enforce compliance with the Motor Vehicles Act, Assistant Regional Transport Office Shopian carried out a comprehensive traffic enforcement drive across major roads of the district.
In accordance with the directions issued by the Deputy Commissioner Shopian, the operation targeted violators engaging in illegal parking, overloading, and other traffic-related offences.
As part of the drive, 47 vehicles were challaned for violations ranging from overloading to rash driving and without permit especially near the Hospital Road, Shopian – Pulwama Highway and Mughal Road areas. 5vehicles were blacklisted for repeated non-compliance and serious violations, barring them from further use on public roads until clearance is obtained.
This action is part of an ongoing strategy to ensure road safety, enhance commuter safety, and promote discipline among vehicle operators.
Speaking on the occasion, ARTO Shopian said, “Road safety is a collective responsibility. We are committed to ensuring that traffic rules are followed strictly. Violators will face legal consequences, including fines, vehicle seizure, or blacklisting. We urge the public to cooperate with enforcement efforts and adopt responsible driving behavior.”
The ARTO Office will continue to conduct such enforcement drives regularly in coordination with the district administration and Traffic Police. Citizens are encouraged to report chronic violators and adhere to traffic norms for the safety of all road users.
