DC Srinagar reviews status of solarization of Govt buildings

Srinagar: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo Friday chaired a meeting of Engineers of JAKEDA and KPDCL here at the Meeting Hall of DC office Complex to review the status of solarization of Government buildings in the district and progress of installation of Solar Rooftops under PM Surya Ghar-Muft Bijli Yojna (PMSGMBY).
The meeting was attended by Chief Executive Officer, Jammu & Kashmir Energy Development Agency(JAKEDA), Dr. P.R. Dhar; Chief Planning Officer, Fayaz Ahamd Dar; Executive Engineers of KPDCL & JAKEDA and other concerned.
At the outset, DC highlighted that the solarization of Government buildings under PMSGMBY in an initiative to install rooftop solar panels on major Government buildings aimed to reduce dependence on conventional power sources, promote clean energy generation, and potentially lower electricity bills for the Government.
He stressed that the initiative must be executed swiftly & seamlessly. He directed all departments to work in close coordination and ensure timely implementation of solarisation of all the Government buildings.
DC instructed that solarisation be completed immediately and made functional at buildings where material have already been delivered. He also called for swift installation of smart meters at sites where materials are still in transit.
During the meeting, DC was apprised that as many as 413 Government buildings have been identified for solarisation in Srinagar.
