Ganderbal, July 09: “Despite being the political stronghold of the Abdullah family for decades, Ganderbal continues to grapple with fundamental infrastructure issues, exposing the inefficiency of the National Conference (NC) in governing the region. Even though Hon’ble Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, his grandfather Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah represented Ganderbal in the legislative assembly, basic problems like traffic congestion at Beehama Chowk remain unaddressed,” stated BJP senior leader and Former district President Ganderbal Mohammed Amin Shah in his statement.
Beehama Chowk, the heart of Ganderbal town, has become a nightmare for commuters due to chronic traffic congestion. Unregulated traffic movement, lack of proper road planning, and the failure to implement long-term solutions have turned this key junction into a bottleneck. The daily chaos affects students, office-goers, and emergency services, leading to frustration among residents.
Speaking on the issue, senior BJP leader and former district president of Ganderbal, Shah, criticized the National Conference for its failure to address even the most basic civic problems. “It is shameful that despite ruling Jammu and Kashmir for decades, the National Conference has left its own home constituency in a state of neglect. Omar Abdullah failed Ganderbal, just like his party failed the people of this region. If they could not even solve a simple issue like traffic management, how can they claim to lead?” Shah remarked. The roads in Ganderbal, particularly in areas like Nagbal and Duderhama, are in a dilapidated condition. Potholes, waterlogging, and lack of maintenance make daily commuting a struggle. The town is witnessing rapid urban expansion without proper planning, leading to encroachments and worsening congestion. Several areas in Ganderbal suffer from erratic water supply and frequent power cuts, affecting households and businesses alike. The district hospital in Ganderbal lacks essential medical infrastructure, forcing residents to travel to Srinagar for treatment.
