Committee on Petitions holds meeting in Srinagar

Discusses petition related to Housing Department

SRINAGAR: The House Committee on Petitions of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly today convened a meeting at the Assembly Complex in Srinagar to deliberate on issues pertaining to the Housing Department.

The meeting was chaired by Committee Chairman Pirzada Farooq Ahmad Shah and attended by members Mushtaq Guroo, Salman Sagar, Mian Mehar Ali, Vijay Kumar and Thakur Randhir Singh.

Managing Director, Jammu and Kashmir Housing Board, Shahbaz Ahmad Mirza, also participated in the proceedings.

The Committee held a threadbare discussion on a petition submitted by former Member of Legislative Assembly, Ghulam Qadir Wani, regarding the retrieval of 12 marlas of land at Channi Rama, Jammu, from the Housing Department.

The discussions focused on identifying practical and time-bound solutions to the issues raised in the petition.

The members assured deep commitment towards resolving the genuine public grievances through a structured and responsive mechanism.

The Chairman, emphasized the Committee’s responsibility to meticulously examine each petition referred to it, ensuring timely redressal and resolution of genuine concerns. He reiterated that the Committee would report to the House on specific complaints and recommend appropriate remedial measures as deemed necessary.

He stressed the importance of active cooperation and seamless contributions from all members and the concerned officials to ensure the vibrant and effective functioning of the Committee.

The members actively participated in the meeting, offering valuable suggestions and feedback on various issues discussed, reaffirming their dedication towards addressing the public concerns transparently and efficiently.
