In a spirited celebrations of the upcoming 26th Kargil Vijay Diwas, the Indian Army flagged off ‘Forever in Operations Mountain Terrain Bicycle Expedition 2025’ from the Siachen Base Camp on 25th June 2025. A total of 20 trained Army Personnel will participate in this expedition, reflecting the Indian Army’s spirit of adventure and resilience.
During this expedition, the cyclists will traverse over a distance of 650 kms through the harsh and unforgiving terrain of Ladakh, and culminate at the Kargil War Memorial, Dras on 10th July 2025. The route includes high mountain passes, glaciated roads, river crossings, and rarefied altitudes testing not only physical strength, but also one’s mental grit.
This symbolic ride will connect Siachen the highest active battlefield of the world with Kargil, a lasting emblem of courage and sacrifice. The journey serves as a bridge between history and the present, rekindling the memories of the valiant fight for India’s sovereignty. Along the way, the cyclists will engage with local communities, students and veterans, conducting awareness drives, patriotic outreach events and interactive sessions to instill pride and national unity among them.
This high-altitude mountain terrain biking expedition is a tribute to the unparalleled courage and supreme sacrifice of the bravehearts, who secured India’s victory during the Kargil War in 1999. The expedition not only honours the valour of our heroes, but also reinforces the unwavering spirit of India’s Armed Forces, who remain ever ready to serve in the most formidable environment.
