Pattan, June 25 (JKNS): Residents of Nooripora in Pattan held a protest on Wednesday, expressing anger and frustration over the area’s four‑year‑long drinking water crisis and accusing the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department.
A group of protestors told news agency JKNS that although pipelines had been laid under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), the supply never became functional. “Only pipes have been installed up to the main line, but no connections have been made, and we have been left without water for four years,” a resident said.
With the holy month of Muharramg approaching, the residents have urged authorities to urgently resolve the issue. “If our demands are not met before Muharram 2025, we will be forced to block the main road in protest,” they warned.
The residents called for immediate and genuine intervention from the government to end their long‑standing crisis and ensure access to clean drinking water. (JKNS)
