The event began promptly at 7:30 a.m. with the National Anthem, setting a patriotic and disciplined tone for the day. Participants were then guided through an invigorating yoga session by three experienced instructors from the Department of Youth Services & Sports and the Department of AYUSH.

Dr. Arshid Iqbal, Medical Officer, Department of AYUSH, supervised the yoga session and said, “We reached here early to perform yoga together on International Yoga Day. Yoga is immensely beneficial for everyone — it improves flexibility, strengthens immunity, reduces stress, and promotes a positive outlook. I urge everyone to make yoga a daily habit for a healthier, happier life.”

Adding to the spirit of the event, Prof. Tariq Hussain Mir, Associate Professor of English, delivered a motivational speech on the significance of yoga. He emphasized that yoga is not just a set of exercises but a profound practice that connects body, mind, and soul, helping individuals cultivate discipline, inner peace, and resilience in today’s fast-paced world.

The event ran smoothly thanks to the Karnah Police under the supervision of Station House Officer Mr. Ghulam Mohi Ud Din, and the support of Information Officer Mr. Mohd Ashraf, who arranged the Public Address (PA) system.

The celebration saw active participation from college faculty, NSS volunteers, NCC cadets, and students, all demonstrating unity and discipline in appropriate yoga attire.

On behalf of GDC Tangdhar, the event was meticulously coordinated by Dr. Bilal Ahmad Sheikh (Assistant Professor, History) and Dr. Muzamil Syed (Assistant Professor, Zoology), whose dedicated efforts ensured the programme’s success.

Prof. Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, Principal of GDC Tangdhar, appreciated the enthusiastic response and highlighted the importance of incorporating yoga into daily life for a balanced, stress-free, and healthy lifestyle. He extended heartfelt thanks to all staff, students, guest instructors, local departments, and the district administration for their active cooperation and support.

The event concluded with a collective pledge to practice yoga regularly and spread its benefits in the community, making this year’s celebration a meaningful step towards a healthier Karnah.
