Distt-Level NCORD meeting held at Udhampur, DC calls for strengthening of anti-drug measures

Udhampur : Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai on Tuesday chaired a meeting of the District-Level Committee under the Narco Coordination Centre here in the Mini Conference Hall, DC Office Complex to assess the implementation of drug control measures and their on ground impact.
The meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police Amod Ashok Nagpure, Additional Deputy Commissioner Prem Singh, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Dr. Umesh Shan and other officers from line departments.
The meeting held detailed deliberations on progress achieved in identification of individuals involved in illicit drug trade and investigations into the NDPS Act cases.
The Drugs & Food Control Organization and the Police Department were tasked with submitting detailed reports on types of drugs seized and their respective locations to facilitate a targeted and coordinated crackdown on drug peddling.
The DC directed them enforcement departments to submit comprehensive action-taken reports on earlier directives. She sought updates on freezing and attachment of financial assets of drug traffickers, action taken against pharmacies selling scheduled drugs without valid prescriptions, measures to curb illicit cultivation of narcotic crops, rehabilitation initiatives for victims of substance abuse, surveillance in educational institutions and implementation of Nasha Mukt Panchayat campaign.
The DC instructed stakeholder departments to scale up counseling services and IEC activities to raise public awareness, especially at the grassroots level.
The identification and monitoring of drug abuse hotspots in the district, action taken against government employees found involved in drug trafficking and inspection and monitoring of drug de-addiction centres etc was also stressed upon.
Tehsildars and ETO were directed to mobilize teams and machinery to identify and destroy wild cannabis growth in their jurisdictions.
