Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Jammu and Kashmir students association urged Ministry of external affairs for urgent Evacuation of Kashmiri Students Amid Iran-Israel Escalation

Earlier today, CM Omar in a post on X as per JKNS wrote, I’m in touch with @MEAIndia regarding the evolving situation in Iran, particularly with regard to the students from Kashmir in Tehran, Shiraz, Qom & other cities. They, in turn, are in close contact with the authorities in Iran.

A decision to evacuate, if necessary, will be taken based on the ground situation keeping the safety & security of these students as the primary consideration. We will keep everyone informed as the situation develops, it reads.

As a parent I assure all the concerned parents of my government’s close & continuous attention to this important developing situation, reads the post.

Nasir Khuehami, National Convenor of Jammu and Kashmir Students Association, said, “We have been receiving distress messages and calls from Kashmiri students in different parts of Iran, especially in cities impacted by the ongoing conflict. Students are anxious and fearful due to the rapidly deteriorating situation. The Association is in close coordination with the office of the External Affairs Minister and is actively preparing a detailed list of affected students to be submitted to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) for urgent intervention and possible evacuation, in case the situation escalates further.
