The decision was taken in the interest of public safety following concerns about the health risks posed to participants and spectators due to extreme temperatures.

The order states that such outdoor events during high heat conditions may lead to incidents of heatstroke, dehydration, and other heat-related illnesses, thereby endangering human life and public health.

The order shall remain in force until the heatwave conditions subside and it is deemed safe to resume such physical events. Any violation of the order shall attract penal action under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and other applicable laws.
