Dangal/Kushti Temporarily Banned in Samba Amid Heatwave Alert

Samba, Jun 13 (JKNS): In view of the prevailing severe heatwave conditions, the District Magistrate Samba, Rajesh Sharma (JKAS), has imposed a temporary ban on all traditional wrestling competitions (Dangal/Kushti) in the district.

As per the government order, a copy of which lies with the news agency JKNS, In view of the prevailing severe heatwave conditions, the District Magistrate Samba, Rajesh Sharma (JKAS), has imposed a temporary ban on all traditional wrestling competitions (Dangal/Kushti) in the district with immediate effect under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

The decision was taken in the interest of public safety following concerns about the health risks posed to participants and spectators due to extreme temperatures.

The order states that such outdoor events during high heat conditions may lead to incidents of heatstroke, dehydration, and other heat-related illnesses, thereby endangering human life and public health.

The order shall remain in force until the heatwave conditions subside and it is deemed safe to resume such physical events. Any violation of the order shall attract penal action under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and other applicable laws.

The District Magistrate has directed all concerned departments including police, revenue officials, and public information offices to ensure strict implementation and public dissemination of the order. (JKNS)
