Katra, Jun 11 (JKNS): The Vande Bharat Express between Katra and Srinagar has received overwhelming public response following its inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with full bookings reported for the next ten days, railway official said.

Speaking to a news wire, Station Superintendent at Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Railway Station, Jugal Kishore Sharma, as per news agency JKNS said that the newly inaugurated Vande Bharat Express, flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has received an overwhelming response from the public.

“There is tremendous excitement among the public. The demand has been so high that there are no seats available for the next 10 days,” Sharma said.

Talking about the route, he said, “It’s a new and scenic route, and people are thrilled to travel on it. There is a festive atmosphere among the passengers, and everyone wants to enjoy the experience. That’s why there is a rush and a long waiting list. Tourists are especially drawn to this train.”

He added that the train offers excellent facilities and passengers are enjoying the journey thoroughly. “We are taking all necessary steps to ensure that passengers have no complaints. If any issues do arise, they are addressed immediately,” Sharma said.

“The railway staff is equally excited about the successful operation of the train. Everyone, from officers to ground staff, is working hard to maintain smooth service and ensure passenger satisfaction,” he added.

The Katra–Srinagar Vande Bharat Express was officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 6, 2025, marking a historic milestone in Jammu & Kashmir’s transport connectivity. The launch was part of the larger Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project, aimed at providing seamless rail connectivity between the Kashmir Valley and the rest of the country.

This high-speed train service significantly reduces travel time between Katra and Srinagar, providing a safe, efficient, and comfortable option for both locals and tourists. The initiative is expected to boost regional trade, support the horticulture sector by facilitating faster movement of produce, and strengthen religious tourism linked to the Vaishno Devi shrine and beyond. (JKNS)
