Jammu: In a major breakthrough, Jammu Police arrested a notorious and wanted criminal Bagh Hussain alias Baghu alias Sunny, son of Mangat Ali, originally from Laswara, Bishnahbfrom Haryana, in connection with multiple serious criminal cases including a recent armed attack on police at Bari Brahmana.

A police official who spoke to news agency JKNS that the accused was apprehended after sustained investigation into FIR No. 53/2025 registered at Police Station Miran Sahib under multiple sections of BNS and Arms Act.

The accused had earlier managed to evade police after orchestrating violent acts, including assaults on law enforcement teams, he said.

“During the recovery of the concealed weapon in Banachak village, the accused attempted to snatch a constable’s rifle and injured him during a scuffle. The police team, in self-defence, opened retaliatory fire. The accused was injured and taken into custody. He is currently under treatment at SDH Bishnah,” the officer said.

Police recovered a loaded pistol and an axe from the hideout. The accused, as per police records, has 27 FIRs against him in Jammu, Samba, and Himachal Pradesh, including cases of murder, attempt to murder, dacoity, illegal arms possession, rioting, conspiracy, and obstruction of public officials.

SSP Jammu Joginder Singh (JKPS) and Incharge SP HQRS Ajay Sharma (JKPS) hailed the operation and lauded the swift, professional, and courageous action by the team led by SDPO RS Pura Gurmeet Singh, Inspector Jai Pal Sharma, PSI Ajesh Jamwal, and Inspector Sushil Choudhary. (JKNS)
