Srinagar: In a strong message issued to media outlets and social media users, Cyber Police Kashmir Zone has cautioned against the spread of false and unverified information aimed at disturbing peace and public order.
In a post on X, as per the news agency JKNS, Cyber Police Kashmir wrote,
“It has come to attention that certain media outlets and individuals on social media platforms are circulating false and unverified reports, thereby creating deliberate attempts to incite unrest and disturb peace and public order.”
The statement further read, “Legal action will be initiated against individuals and organizations found to be spreading false information/misinformation with malicious intent, under the relevant sections of the law.”
Cyber Police urged citizens, media platforms, and social media users to “not fall prey to false propaganda” and advised everyone to verify facts before sharing “sensitive content that may disturb public peace and harmony.” (JKNS)
