Pulwama : Continuing its intensified Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, district administration Pulwama in collaboration with the District Social Welfare Office Pulwama Thursday conducted a series of awareness programmes across various schools of the district.
These programmes aimed to sensitise students about the ill effects of substance abuse, and foster a culture of awareness and responsibility among the youth.
During the sessions, resource persons engaged students through interactive lectures and real-life case discussions, highlighting the psychological, physical and social consequences of drug addiction.
Special emphasis was laid on preventive education, developing a positive and resilient mindset, and the critical role school-going students can play as change-makers within their peer groups and communities.
Medical experts from the Health department explained the early signs of addiction and underscored the importance of timely intervention and support. School counsellors and educators encouraged students to adopt healthy coping mechanisms, stay committed to personal growth, and seek help whenever necessary.
Students actively participated in discussions, and took a collective pledge to lead a drug-free life and spread the message within their families and neighbourhoods.
On the occasion, various schools also organised poster-making and awareness rallies, adding creative and participatory elements to the campaign.
The outreach initiative will continue in the coming days, covering more educational institutions and ensuring that the message of prevention, awareness and support reaches every corner of the district.
