DHSJ reviews preparedness for handling Dengue, other VBDs

Jammu: Director Health Services Jammu Dr. Abdul Hamid Zargar on Tuesday chaired a reorientation workshop and review meeting to discuss execution of National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP).
The meeting was convened by the State Malariologist Dr. D J Raina here in the Conference Hall of Government Provincial Hospital, Gandhi Nagar and attended by Chief Medical Officers and Medical Superintendents from District Hospitals and Associated Hospitals of Government Medical Colleges of Jammu Division, Dy. Director Health Services (Schemes), Jammu Dr. Poonam Sethi, State Nodal Officer, National Health Mission, Jammu Dr. Harjeet Rai and Assistant Director Health Services (Schemes), Jammu Dr. Ila Gupta.
At the outset, a powerpoint presentation (PPT) was given by Microbiologist, Government Hospital, Gandhi Nagar Dr. Ruchita Mahajan, covering academic aspects of Dengue and other Vector Borne Diseases (VBDs).
State Malariologist Dr. D J Raina presented a powerpoint presentation (PPT) on current scenario, preparedness measures, besides highlighting the strategies adopted by the Department to control Dengue and other VBDs.
Terming Dengue as a looming threat, the Director Health Services Jammu urged all stakeholders to work together for better disease Management. He also emphasized on aggressive awareness activities in public.
Several other issues were also discussed including capacity building of the staff, Inter-sectoral coordination among all stakeholders, availability of 104 Helpline, platelets separation facility and designation of beds and wards for patients in case of a possible outbreak.
Dy. Medical Superintendent, Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar, Jammu Dr. Balvinder Singh presented the vote of thanks.
