DC Shopian’s extensive visit to Zainapora; assess ongoing developmental works, review public services

SHOPIAN: In a significant move to ensure transparency and efficiency in public services, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Shishir Gupta, conducted an extensive tour of Zainapora subdivision today.

The visit aimed to assess ongoing developmental works and review public services at various offices.

During the visit, DC inspected the Tehsil Office at Chitragam, emphasizing efficient land record management. He also directed the SDM and Tehsildar to ensure proper maintenance and updates.

DC also inspected the Patwar Khana at Chitragam and issued show-cause notices to Patwari and Girdawar for not maintaining revenue records properly.

Gupta reviewed the ongoing construction of the Tongri Nallah Bridge at Chitragam on Chitragam-Reban Road, instructing engineers to expedite work for early completion for improved local connectivity under PMGSY.

Additionally, he inspected the 28-kanal Football Playfield at Dragad, being developed by the J&K Sports Council at an estimated cost of Rs. 6 crore.

DC also visited the damaged flume at Darbagh and directed immediate restoration to support local farmers. Furthermore, he reviewed the Water Supply Scheme at Cheeramarag under JJM, ensuring uninterrupted and clean drinking water supply to several villages under the scheme constructed at a cost of Rs. 156 crores.

Gupta also visited the 110-kanal Playfield at Cheermarg, assuring local sports enthusiasts of improvements and further development.

In another significant move, DC visited the TSWO office at Chitragam and directed officials to conduct village camps for adding genuine beneficiaries under various schemes, ensuring that the benefits reach the intended recipients.

DC was accompanied by senior officials, including ADC Shopian Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz; SDM Zainapora, Tehsildar Chitragam/Zainapora, and officials from the J&K Sports Council, Irrigation, and Jal Shakti department.
