Baramulla: Hailstorm and heavy rainfall accompanied wreaked havoc in the upper reaches of Rafiabad area in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday evening.

A group of Locals told news agency JKNS that the weather event with heavy hailstorm and rains caused significant damage to a variety of fruits and vegetables in the area, including apple, cherry, and other seasonal produce.

“The hailstorm was intense and lasted several minutes, leaving the orchards battered,” a local grower from Rafiabad told JKNS.

Hailstorm with heavy rain was also reported in Ladua, Khamoh, Shalkote,Braman, Kutroo Narbal, Rafiabad, reports stated.

Farmers in the affected belt have appealed to authorities for assessment and compensation, citing heavy losses ahead of the harvesting season. (JKNS)
