Rajouri: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma on Monday chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the implementation of directions issued by the Lieutenant Governor regarding the provision of dedicated power line supply to hospitals, development of critical infrastructure, and the security of important bridges in the district.
The DC emphasised the need for uninterrupted power supply to healthcare facilities and other vital installations to ensure seamless services during emergencies. The Power Development Department (PDD) was directed to ensure strict compliance with the LG’s directives.
The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the ongoing assessment of damages caused to infrastructure, including commercial buildings and cattle sheds, by the Public Works Department (PWD). The DC directed the concerned departments to expedite the process and submit detailed reports for prompt action and assistance to affected stakeholders.
In light of the recent challenges posed by cross border shelling and other emergencies, the DC instructed the Animal Husbandry Department to conduct drills for the safety of livestock, including buffaloes and cows, in vulnerable areas.
Recognizing the critical role of community participation in disaster preparedness, the DC directed the Health Department to prepare a comprehensive list of blood donors in Nowshera and Rajouri subdivisions, which will serve as an essential resource during emergencies.
Further, the DC instructed officers to gather details of requisitioned community sirens and to conduct drills for their effective use in alerting the public during emergencies.
The Deputy Commissioner also issued directions for the construction of trenches in both rural and urban areas as a proactive measure to safeguard lives during emergencies.
The DC directed the concerned departments to prepare a detailed plan for the reconstruction of damaged Government structures, including Panchayat Ghars, to restore essential services and ensure the continuity of governance in affected areas.
The Deputy Commissioner underscored the importance of proactive preparedness and coordinated efforts to safeguard public life and property. He directed all departments to work in close coordination and ensure timely action on all assigned tasks.
The meeting was attended by ADC Nowshera Pritam Lal Thapa, SE PWD Tilak Raj, ACR Mohd Jahangir Khan, ACD Auqil Naveed and other district and sectoral officers.
