The all-time highest May temperature in Srinagar, as per available historical data, is 36.4°C recorded on May 24, 1968. However, weather experts caution that this record remains less verified.

The independent weather observers termed today’s heat wave as “extremely rare” for the region and warned of possible heat-related stress for the vulnerable population if the current trend continues.

This spike in temperature comes amid a broader climate shift being observed across the Kashmir Valley, with heat advisories already issued by district administrations. (JKNS)
