Uri, May 21: In a significant humanitarian effort, Kashmir Sewa Sangh (KSS) on Tuesday organized a relief distribution event in the border town of Uri, aiming to support families affected by recent cross-border shelling.

Led by KSS Chief Firdous Baba, a team of dedicated volunteers visited multiple shelling-hit villages near the Line of Control (LoC), delivering essential aid and standing in solidarity with the distressed local population. The initiative was part of KSS’s broader mission to provide immediate assistance to those grappling with loss and displacement amid escalating tensions along the border.

During the relief drive, volunteers distributed ration kits containing food staples like flour, rice, pulses, and cooking oil, as well as hygiene essentials. Each aid kit was tailored to address the basic needs of families struggling in the aftermath of the hostilities. The volunteers also engaged personally with residents, lending a compassionate ear to their stories and reassuring them of the community’s unwavering support.

Speaking at the event, KSS Chief Firdous Baba said, “Our duty to the nation extends beyond any border. In these challenging times, showing empathy and support to every affected family is our collective responsibility. It is our unity and kindness that will strengthen our nation and help us overcome adversity.”

Baba reiterated KSS’s enduring commitment to humanitarian service, stating that providing relief is both a national honor and moral obligation. “When we stand together in service, we honor our country and our values,” he said, while confirming that KSS will continue organizing such drives to ensure no affected family is left behind.

The event not only brought tangible aid to those in need but also served as a symbol of resilience, compassion, and unity in the face of conflict.
