Srinagar: Srinagar Police on Tuesday arrested a drug peddler and also recovered contraband substances from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police team of Police Station Shaltang at a checkpoint established at Ranbirgarh, arrested a drug peddler identified as Zubair Ahmed Sheikh S/o Gulzar Ahmed Sheikh R/o Lawaypora and during search recovered substantial quantity of Heroin-like substance from his possession.
Stating that a case under FIR No. 39/2025 under sections of NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Shaltang besides initiating further investigation Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement reiterated its commitment to zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and appealed peoplre to come forward with any information related to drug abuse or peddling in their areas.
