Rajouri,m: Leader of Opposition (LoP) Sunil Sharma, accompanied by senior BJP leaders Sham Lal Sharma, Dr. Narinder Singh, R.S. Pathania, and former MLC Vibodh Gupta, on Monday visited Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri to meet civilians injured in recent cross-border shelling.
The delegation also toured several border villages affected by the shelling and interacted with locals to assess the situation on the ground. They assured the residents that necessary steps will be taken to ensure their rehabilitation.
“We are assessing the situation and will file a detailed report on the damage caused. This report will be forwarded to the Central Government for an appropriate compensation package,” LoP Sunil Sharma said while speaking to reporters as per news agency JKNS said.
Meanwhile, a four-member committee has also been constituted to assess damage to property, livestock, and infrastructure in the affected areas. The team is expected to submit a report soon to expedite the process of relief distribution.
The BJP leaders emphasized their full support to the border residents and called for long-term protective measures to safeguard civilian lives. (JKNS)
