Baijnath Paprola Station Redeveloped Under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme

Baijnath, May 19: Baijnath Paprola Railway Station in Himachal Pradesh has been redeveloped and modernized under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, a national initiative aimed at transforming 1309 railway stations across India with state-of-the-art facilities and improved infrastructure.

Located on the Pathankot-Jogindernagar narrow-gauge railway line under the Jammu Division of Northern Railway, the Baijnath Paprola station lies in the scenic Kangra district. It serves as an important transit point for pilgrims visiting major religious sites such as Baijnath Temple (dedicated to Lord Shiva), Chintpurni Temple (dedicated to Goddess Durga), Jwalamukhi Temple (known for its eternal flames), Kangra Fort, and the ancient rock-cut Masrur Temple.

Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, which was launched with the foundation stone laid by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 26, 2024, the station has been upgraded with modern passenger amenities including a roof plaza, landscaping, inter-modal connectivity, improved façade, kids’ play area, kiosks, and food courts. The initiative ensures the redevelopment is both environment and Divyang friendly, with designs inspired by local culture, heritage, and architecture.

Modern amenities at Baijnath Paprola Station now include, Separate modern toilet blocks for ladies and gents. An AC waiting room (5m x 4m). A retiring room (5m x 5m). 20 stainless steel benches on the platform. Baby feeding room. New platform shelter (1544 sqm). Two water booths and one water cooler. Divyang-friendly facilities such as dedicated toilet, water taps, entrance ramp, booking window, and parking area. Train indication board and coach guidance display system in the concourse

The station’s redevelopment reflects Indian Railways’ broader mission to enhance passenger experience through improved aesthetics, accessibility, and safety.

In addition to Baijnath Paprola, three other stations in Himachal Pradesh Amb Andaura, Palampur, and Shimla are also set to be redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, promising a new era of travel infrastructure in the state.
