Kishanganga Dam Flushing on May 10, Residents Advised to Stay Away from River

Bandipora: Authorities have issued a public safety alert for residents living downstream of the Kishanganga Dam, as NHPC Limited is scheduled to carry out reservoir flushing from 10:00 AM on May 10, 2025.

SDM Gurez in an advisory as per news agency JKNS said that the operation is expected to last for approximately 48 hours, during which the water level in the river may rise abruptly and significantly, posing a safety risk to people near the riverbanks.

According to NHPC said a siren will be sounded before the release of water as a warning measure, he said.

The public has been strictly advised to stay away from the river during the flushing period and take necessary safety precautions.
