Jammu, May 6 (JKNS): Four persons died and 43 others were injured after a passenger bus plunged into a deep gorge in the Ghani area of Mendhar in Poonch district on Tuesday morning.

An official told news agency JKNS that the bus, bearing registration number JK02X-1671, was on its way from Ghani Mendhar when it skidded off the road and fell into a gorge.

Soon after the accident, teams of police, Army, and locals rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation.

The official said two passengers died on the spot, one succumbed on the way to hospital, while the fourth died during treatment. Among the injured, five are said to be in critical condition and have been referred to GMC Rajouri for specialized treatment.

Police have registered a case and taken up further investigation. (JKNS)
