Budgam: In a significant step towards bolstering electoral literacy among the young voters, the state-of-the-art awareness van, “Democracy on Wheels,” visited two prominent Higher Secondary Schools in the 27 Budgam Assembly Constituency on 29th of April 2025.
Acting on the directions of Chief Electoral Officer, Pandurang K Pole, the dedicated team comprising Mohammad Kamran Shamshad and Shahid Andrabi engaged with students at Government Higher Secondary School, Shogapora, and Government Higher Secondary School, Sholipora.
The recently designed “Democracy on Wheels” served as an interactive platform, effectively educating the student fraternity on various aspects of the electoral process. Through engaging sessions and informative resources available within the van, the team empowered the students with crucial democratic knowledge, fostering a deeper understanding of their rights and responsibilities as future voters.
The interactions at both schools were reported to be highly positive, with students actively participating and demonstrating keen interest in the information shared. This initiative underscores the commitment of the Chief Electoral Officer’s office to reach out to young citizens and instil in them the importance of democratic participation.
The “Democracy on Wheels” campaign is a proactive effort to strengthen the foundation of democracy by educating and engaging potential voters at the grassroots level. Such initiatives play a vital role in ensuring informed and enthusiastic participation in the electoral process in the years to come.
