Srinagar: To guide and inspire young minds aiming for the country’s top civil services, the Centre for Career Planning and Counselling (CCPC), University of Kashmir (KU), organized a workshop titled ‘Cracking the Code: A Strategy Talk on How to Crack UPSC’ at the varsity today.
The workshop featured Athar Amir Khan (IAS), Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam J&K, and Muneeb Bhat (IPS), who recently qualified the UPSC exam 2024 (AIR 131). Sharing their journeys, they spoke about the challenges, the strategies they followed, and the mindset needed to succeed in one of the toughest examinations in the country. Their experiences served as a real-life roadmap for the aspirants attending the session.
Vice-Chancellor KU, Prof. Nilofer Khan, in her message, emphasized the University’s commitment to helping students pursue competitive careers.
“Our youth have immense potential. With determination, the right support system and consistent effort, they can achieve any milestone they set their eyes on,” she said. Speaking during the session Athar Amir Khan discussed various preparation strategies and encouraged students to stay committed to their goals. “There are no shortcuts to success in civil services exam. It’s a test of patience, perseverance and staying focused even when things seem tough,” he said, urging students not to lose heart during failures. Muneeb Bhat (IPS) stressed on the role of self-discipline, mental strength and learning from mistakes. “Every serious aspirant must learn to trust their journey. Small steps every day lead to big results,” he said, inspiring students to maintain a positive outlook throughout their preparation.
Earlier, Director CCPC KU Prof. Nazir A. Dar, welcomed the guests and participants and said that the purpose of such events is to make young aspirants interact with the real achievers so they can learn firsthand what it takes to crack prestigious exams.
The workshop saw an active participation of civil services aspirants from CCPC, who engaged in meaningful discussions with the speakers. The event ended with an interactive session where students sought advice on preparation techniques, time management, and handling setbacks.
The event proceedings were conducted by Ms. Fatima Ali, faculty at CCPC KU, while vote of thanks was delivered by Deputy Director CCPU KU, Dr. Yahiya Bakhtiyar.
