Police spokesperson in a statement issued here to news agency JKNS reads, the public is hereby informed that all such content lacking verification is entirely baseless and misleading. Circulating unverified information poses a serious threat to public peace and order.
Kupwara Police emphasizes that the creation, dissemination, or endorsement of fake news is a punishable offence under the law. Strict legal action will be taken against individuals involved in such activities, statement reads.
Citizens are strongly advised to verify any information before sharing, rely only on official sources for updates, and contribute towards maintaining communal harmony, it reads.
