Shopian, April 22 (JKNS): In a significant outreach effort, the Army’s 1st Rashtriya Rifles (RR) organised a free veterinary camp in the remote Zainapora area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district, where thousands of animals were provided treatment and medical care.

Locals in the area, which lacks basic veterinary infrastructure, expressed gratitude to the Army for organising the camp and requested more such initiatives, both for animals and humans.

“The area has long been deprived of proper veterinary services. This camp by the Army has helped hundreds of livestock owners who rely on their animals for livelihood,” said one local resident.

In addition to the veterinary camp, the Army is also actively conducting youth engagement programmes, including sports activities such as cricket, volleyball, and football, aiming to channel the energy of the youth in a positive direction.

Locals appreciated these initiatives and said such activities not only provide much-needed services but also build trust and goodwill between the Army and the local population. They expressed hope that more medical and veterinary camps would be held in the future. (JKNS)
