Jammu: In response to the rising incidents of terrorism in the border district of Poonch, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone, Bhim Singh Tuti on Wednesday said that adequate capacity building has been carried out to counter such threats effectively.
Speaking to reporters, IGP after observing Thana Divas as per JKNS emphasized that the Jammu and Kashmir Police, in collaboration with other security agencies, have taken proactive steps to prevent any major security breach in the region.
“Whatever capacity building is required to handle the situation has been done. Wherever further improvement is needed, it will be made,” he stated.
The IGP’s remarks come in the backdrop of recent terrorist movements and encounters in the border areas of the Pir Panjal region, particularly Poonch and Rajouri, where terrorist activities have seen a sudden spike in the last two years.
Tuti said that whatever suggestions were given during the Thana Divas will be looked into and worked upon.
He said that special attention is being given to vulnerable areas and security forces have been equipped with the necessary logistics, technology, and training to tackle evolving threats. “We are constantly assessing the ground situation and adapting our strategies accordingly,” he said.
The IGP also urged the public to cooperate with the security forces and report any suspicious activity.—(JKNS)
