Born on March 21, 1940, Allama Baqir began his education at Babul Ilm in Budgam and later pursued higher Islamic studies at the prestigious Howza Ilmia seminary in Najaf Ashraf. He returned to Kashmir in 1982 to continue the spiritual mission of his family, following the path of his ancestor Aga Syed Yusuf Al-Moosavi Al-Safavi.

Allama Baqir was known for his deep scholarship and spiritual insight. He was fluent in Arabic, Persian, and Kashmiri, and contributed as a poet, author, and preacher. His contributions earned him the Shaheed Murtaza Mutahhari Award, recognizing his significant impact on Islamic scholarship.

President of the All Jammu & Kashmir Shia Association, Molvi Imran Reza Ansari, mourned his demise, calling him “a scholar, a guide, and a spiritual light” whose absence leaves a deep void. He described Allama Baqir as a vital link between Najaf’s scholarly traditions and Kashmir’s spiritual life.

The late scholar was closely related to other leading figures of the Aga family, including Aga Syed Hassan Mosavi, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, and Aga Syed Hadi Mosavi. His passing is being widely mourned across religious and social circles in Jammu and Kashmir.

“May Allah grant him a place in Jannat al-Firdous,” Ansari prayed, extending condolences to the bereaved family, his students, and followers. (JKNS)
